The Mount Airy High School soccer program is putting out the last call for the seventh annual Mount Airy Young Bears Soccer Camp, which will be held July 9-12 on the soccer practice field at Mount Airy High School.

The camp will run Monday through Thursday of next week from 8:30 a.m. to noon. The camp is open to all boys and girls who will be entering the third through the ninth grades during the 2018-19 school year this fall. Campers will receive personalized and team instruction from Mount Airy High head men’s and women’s soccer coach Will Hurley, assistant Holden Hurley, and players from the 2017-18 men’s and women’s teams.

The men’s and women’s programs at MAHS are among the top 1A soccer programs in the state. Last year, both teams produced All-State players, and the men’s team reached the 1A West Regional final for the second time in three seasons. Hurley is also the Midwest Region head men’s soccer coach every year for the Powerade State Games of North Carolina, where his team won the silver medal last month.

Instruction at the camp includes fundamentals of the game, skills training, games and other fun activities. Campers will receive a free team bag.

Campers need shin guards, along with cleats or tennis shoes. No open-toed shoes are allowed.

Registration has been open for more than a month, and the cost to take part in the camp is $70 per child. There is a $10 discount for siblings who sign up as a group.

For more information on the camp, call Coach Will Hurley at (910) 723-7759.
