MORGANTON — Steve Greene #39 from Bostic led every lap on his way to victory in the Tire Plus/Tires Pros Thunder Bombers/PSV8 Special $600-to-win race on Friday night at Antioch Speedway. Matthew Prince #19P passed John McElrath #63 on the fourth lap and went on to finish second. Johnny Reynolds #55 also got by McElrath late in the event to finish third. McElrath placed fourth, and Timmy Wilson #777 rounded out the top five.
John Reynolds #55 from Connelly Springs got the jump at the drop of the green and held off late pressure from Rodney Lail #26 to win the Heintz Bros. Performance Renegade/Crate Sportsman event. Lail finished second, Ronald Rhodes #23 third, Scott Jones #4 fourth and Wayne Curtis #45 fifth.
Tommy Zachary #4Z from Yadkinville won a hotly-contested Super-Stock 4 race. Paul Butler #4B led the first six circuits until Zachary made a pass for the lead when Butler slid high coming off turn 2. Butler developed handling problems and was never a factor in the remaining laps. Jimmy Millsaps #20 held off Trevor Chatham #00 at the line to finish second, Chatham placed third, Logan Ritchie #10 fourth and Eddie Brittian #57 fifth.
Randy Powell #88 from Lincolnton led flag to flag to win the RPM Graphics Pure Stock 4 race. William Myers #17 finished second. Randy Powell Jr. crossed the line in third, but was disqualified during the post-race inspection for an illegal carburetor, moving Chris Bulter #B9 to third. Curtis Barker #84 overcame a mid-race pit Stop to finish fourth and Jonathon Greer #65 finished fifth.
Jonathon Sarratt #311 from Shelby made it look easy, dominating the Extreme FWD’s event. Brandon Spangler #20 finished a distant second, Kevin Saam #41 third, Dixie Barker #84B fourth and Casey Roberts #7 fifth.
Mason Pugh #22 from Connelly Springs made his last race as a Young Gun pay off by winning the event. Colby Burks #73 led the first five laps until Pugh, who had been running side-by-side with Burks for two or three laps, finally made the pass to take the victory. Burks was second, Trace Chatham #21 third, Nathan Prince #19 fourth and Gracie Gatton #G7 fifth.
Sands runs at Friendship
ELKIN — Jordan Sands, who won the most recent previous Modified feature at Antioch back on June 29, was in action at Friendship Motor Speedway in Elkin on July 8, where he finished fifth in the Open Wheel Modified race. Sands admittedly make a mistake early in the race that caused an minor accident, but he and the other driver were able to continue, and each finished in the top 10 of the event.
He planned to race in Saturday’s race at Friendship, but results from that race were not available at press time.
