HAYS — The North Surry volleyball team stayed unbeaten on the first official day of school, sweeping North Wilkes in straight sets to improve to 6-0 on the season.
The Lady Greyhounds, who claimed the top overall ranking in the state’s 2A and overall MaxPreps ratings on Monday morning, got a fight in the first set but little else, downing the Lady Vikings 26-24, 25-17, 25-19.
All nine of North Surry’s players got into at least two of the sets, with Paige Sizemore leading the team by posting 14 kills and 15 digs. Mikaela Johnson had 11 kills and Camille Cartwright seven. Dixie Fulk had 30 assists and Evann Shelnutt had 13 digs to go with three service aces.
The Lady Hounds visit Atkins today for their first conference match.
