Susan Rogers Holder, president of Rogers Realty & Auction Co. Inc., was recently appointed to the North Carolina Auctioneers Licensing Board by Gov. Pat McCrory.
The statewide commission is comprised of five members appointed to the board by the governor. The board is responsible for the administration and enforcement of the state auctioneers law, which establishes specific standards of conduct that serve to protect the public; affords a means of redress of grievances of any person suffering damage by reason of misconduct relating to sales at auction, and provides a means of monetary restitution for loss suffered.
At least three members of the board must be licensed auctioneers, and at least one member is not an auctioneer, appointed “to represent the public at large,” according to the boards website.
Holder’s term is a three-year one, which expires June 30, 2018.
She has been with Rogers Realty & Auction since 1986 as a licensed Realtor and auctioneer and became broker in charge in 1999. She is a graduate of the North Carolina Realtors Institute and graduate of the Certified Auctioneers Institute at Indiana University. She is a member of the NC Auctioneers Association, National Auctioneers Association, NC Realtors Association, National Realtors Association, Surry County Board of Realtors, and the Greater Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce.
A resident of Mount Airy, she is a member of Bannertown Baptist Church, and has held a number of local leadership positions and garnered numerous awards. Among them was the 1990 Jaycee of the Year for the Mount Airy Jaycees; serving as the 1991 president of that organization; winning the 1991 Outstanding Local Presidents Award for the North Carolina Jaycees; serving as a board member for the Greater Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce for 2006-2008; holding the position of 1991 vice president of the Surry County Multiple Listings Exchange; 1993 Vice President of the Surry County Board of Realtors; president of the county board of Realtors in 1994, and she’s served as president of the White Plains Elementary School PTO and as the Untied Fund Campaign Business III co-chairman from 1995 to 2000.
She is married to Samuel Lewis Holder Jr. and has one son, Samuel.
