Police reports

• Damage put at $845 was caused to a Pepsi machine at Robby’s Sales on North Main Street, according to city police department reports. The crime was reported Tuesday, but actually occurred earlier this month, involving a pry tool being used to gain entry and leading to damage to the coin and currency mechanism. There was no listing of any monetary loss.

• Police learned of a similar crime Friday at a business known as Surry 3 in the 300 block of East Pine Street, where an attempt was made to break into a coin-operated ice dispenser, causing $1,000 in damage.

• On Friday, another $500 in damage was discovered to a Kodiak coin-operated ice machine at an unidentified business in the 800 block of West Pine Street.

• Also Friday, police were advised that an attempt had been made to enter a Pepsi vending machine at Eddie’s Zip Foods, which caused $100 in damage to its bill receiver.

• Jimmy Tyler Flynn, 20, of 5329 N.C. 268, Dobson, was cited for injury to personal property last Thursday after police responded to a damage to property call in the vicinity of Staples on Rockford Street. Flynn is accused of using a blunt object to damage the exterior of a 1999 Jeep Cherokee owned by Dianna Speer of Pipers Gap Road in Cana, Virginia. The damage was put at $700, with Flynn scheduled to appear in Surry District Court on July 20.

• Clifford Jeffrey Fulmer, 60, of Batesville, Indiana, was charged with obtaining property by false pretense, a felony, and disorderly conduct last Thursday after he allegedly obtained a cab ride from Mayberry Taxi and refused to pay the driver. The Starlite Motel is listed as the location of the crime, for which Fulmer was held in the Surry County Jail under a $2,500 secured bond. His District Court date is July 27.

• Natalie Lanae Bobbitt, 29, of 3567 Lambsburg Road, Lambsburg, Virginia, is facing two felony counts of obtaining property by false pretense which were filed on June 13 at Walmart, involving a loss of $255. No other details were listed regarding the alleged crimes for which Bobbitt is free on a written promise to appear in District Court on Aug. 5.

• Violations of driving while impaired and driving while license revoked were issued against Valente Bustos Rangel, 37, of 118 Brookdale Lane, on June 13 after an accident investigation on Worth Street near South Street involving a 2003 Ford Mustang he was operating. Rangel is free on a written promise to appear in Surry District Court on July 21.

• Stephanie Renee Outlaw, 24, of 542 Willow Hill Road, Ararat, Virginia, was cited for larceny and possession of stolen goods on June 13 after allegedly taking property valued at $172 from Main Oak Emporium downtown, including kitchen supplies, a keychain, lip gloss and an ink pen. All those items were returned to the business undamaged, with Outlaw scheduled to be in District Court on July 28.

• Two people are facing a series of violations stemming from a suspicious-person call at Forrest Oaks Shopping Center on the night of June 12. Christopher Reuben Clark, 31, of 269 Hiatt Road, is charged with felony offenses of possession of methamphetamine and possession of firearm by a convicted felon, along with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

The second person involved, Amber Renee Bilyeu, 30, of 114 Fred Atkins Lane, is accused of felonious possession of stolen property, a felony probation violation, a misdemeanor probation violation, resisting a public officer, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, two counts of possessing drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana paraphernalia. An order for arrest for failing to appear in court also was discovered for Bilyeu, who was jailed under a $20,800 secured bond. Clark was held under a $10,000 secured bond, with both slated for a July 20 appearance in Surry District Court.
