Police reports


• A Mount Airy woman was jailed under a $10,000 secured bond Friday after being arrested as a fugitive from justice from Virginia, according to city police department reports. Madelene Marie Dunning, 22, of 149 Trails End, was encountered by officers during a suspicious-person call at Sheets, with an investigation revealing that she was wanted in Carroll County on an unspecified matter. Dunning is scheduled to appear in Surry District Court on Aug. 28.

• Christopher Wayne Anthony, 33, of 207 Samurai Lane, was charged with driving while impaired Friday night after a traffic collision. Anthony, who was taken into custody at 2905 Rockford St., the address for Sheetz, also was found to be the subject of an order for arrest for failing to appear in court which had been filed in March 2017. He was held in the Surry County Jail under a $200 secured bond and slated for a Sept. 17 court appearance.

• Alfredo Jimenez Flores, 32, of 124 Baxter Lane, was charged with larceny on July 12 after police encountered him during a suspicious-person call at Mayberry Mall. Details regarding the alleged larceny were not listed. The case is set for the Sept. 17 District Court session.

• Bobby Keith Jessup Jr., 53, listed as homeless, was cited on a charge of soliciting on July 12 after police allegedly witnessed him asking for money in the vicinity of the Lowe’s hardware shopping center on U.S. 52 in violation of a city ordinance. Jessup is scheduled to be in Surry District Court next Monday.

• Woodrow Stansbury Williams, 51, of 1714 Bowen Lane, Pinnacle, was jailed under a $50,000 secured bond on July 11, when he was charged with larceny and possession of stolen goods at Walmart, stemming from the theft of a lawn mower battery valued at $75 which was recovered. Williams also was found to be wanted on an order for arrest for failing to appear in court, issued on March 2. He is scheduled to be in District Court on Sept. 25.

• Police were told on July 11 that side mirrors with a total value at $1,000 had been stolen from two vehicles at Simmons Nissan on Rockford Street. Included were the driver’s-side mirror of a red Nissan Altima and the passenger-side mirror of a burgundy Nissan Sentra.

• Steven Lacy Frey, 39, of Sophia, West Virginia, was charged with larceny at Walmart on July 11, when he allegedly stole an unspecified item valued at $338. Frey’s court date is Sept. 5.

• John Chester Macchietto, 58, of 340 Snowhill Drive, is facing charges of driving while impaired and damage to property which were filed on July 11 after a motor vehicle crash involving a 2001 Chevrolet Impala he was operating. The case is set for the Sept. 26 session of Surry District Court.

• Kimberly Ann Hunter, 43, of Winston-Salem, was arrested as a fugitive from justice on July 10 after police encountered her at a location on Starlite Road. She was found to be wanted in Carroll County, Virginia, with no other details listed. Hunter was jailed under a $1,000 secured bond.
