The Greater Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has elected John Philips as the 2018-2019 Chairman of the Board.
Philips is an owner/agent with State Farm Insurance, located at 324 N. South Street in Mount Airy. Philips recently celebrated his 30th year with State Farm.
Philips replaces Adam Martin, who resigned his position as chamber chairman in May. Prior to this election, Philips was a member of the executive committee and was chairman-elect for 2019. Chamber officials said Philips will serve out the remainder of Martin’s term, which ends Dec. 31, then serve his full term as chairman throughout calendar year 2019.
“John is a local resident, business owner and has a passion for the chamber,” said Chamber President and CEO Randy Collins. “We are looking forward to working with John and congratulate him on his election as our chairman.”
Collins also reported that Philips was one of the key leaders who helped design the Chamber’s 2020 Strategic Plan, approved by the board in 2018.
