DOBSON — Registration is underway for next month’s Brighter Days Children’s Grief Camp.
The camp, by Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, will be July 9-13 at Dobson First Baptist Church, located at 204 S. Crutchfield St. in Dobson, operating from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day.
Brighter Day’s Grief Camp is a healing retreat for children ages 5 through 18 who have lost a loved one. A variety of educational and recreational activities will be offered, all of which are designed to assist the campers in identifying, expressing and coping with their feelings of grief.
“We utilize a blended therapeutic modality of trauma-focused cognitive behavioral interventions such as art therapy, mindfulness and grief education, to meet the special needs of our campers,” said Stacie Adams, Mountain Valley Hospice bereavement coordinator.
Grief Camp is free, but participants must register by July 3.
Anyone who knows of a child who would benefit from Grief Camp, should call Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care at 1-888-789-2922. For more information visit www.mtnvalleyhospice.org.
