Thursday, May 31, 2018 – MACS Retirement Dinner

Mount Airy City Schools recently held a celebration for seven of its employees who are retiring at the end of the school year.

“Combined, these ladies served the children and families of Mount Airy for over 186 years,” the school system said in announcing their retirements.

Those honored retirees were:

• Retiring from Tharrington Primary School are first grade teacher Annette Hughes and second grade teacher Lisa York;

• Retiring from Jones Intermediate are third grade teacher Debbie Powell and fourth grade teacher Jamie Smith;

• Retiring from Mount Airy Middle School is Reading/Literacy Specialist Marcy Marion;

• Retiring from the central office are administrative assistant Vickie Chilton and Director of Exceptional Children Lydia Lovel.
