In a special meeting Monday that lasted only 2 minutes, the Pilot Mountain town commissioners postponed indefinitely a public hearing that had been scheduled for June 19 during their May meeting.
As reported in the Mount Airy News on May 16, Pilot Mountain town staff had received a number of nuisance complaints regarding New River Tire from residents and business owners, according to information on the town website.
Board members were provided copies of those letters in their packets and were informed they were empowered to declare situations not covered under Section 26-1 (16) a public nuisance after holding a public hearing.
The board scheduled a public hearing as the letters requested. The hearing was scheduled for June 19 at 6 p.m. at Pilot Mountain Middle School.
Monday’s meeting postponed that hearing indefinitely.
“I don’t know when it will be, but it won’t be on June 19,” Town Manager Michael Boaz said on Monday.
