Dr. John L. Gravitte will host his annual charitable event, a day of free dentistry, providing adults and children in need with dental care on Saturday, May 19.
Gravitte’s office is a participating practice hosting Dentistry From The Heart, a nonprofit dental organization that began in 2001, offering free dental services throughout the world. Dr. Gravitte began hosting Dentistry From The Heart locally in 2014 when he completed his new practice location at 140 North Pointe Boulevard.
“We began this event in our new facility that allows us to provide care for more patients and meet their dental needs in one location,” he said. “Being born and raised in Mount Airy, my dedication to our community has never been stronger and this event is one way both me and my staff can give back to those in need – but, I didn’t expect the experience to be so rewarding. It’s now my favorite day of the year at the office.”
Dental professionals from across the state volunteer along with the staff at Dr. Gravitte’s and community members to provide care to as many patients as possible — patients receive a dental exam and their choice of a filling, extraction or hygiene cleaning.
The success of the event is attributed to the commitment of the many volunteers, especially those assisting with the registration and pre-screening process.
“We’ve had hundreds of cars lined up for this event, and many arrive the day prior trying to secure their place in line. Every year we try to see more patients-that is the ultimate goal,” said Melissa Russell, office administrator.
Adult patients are asked to arrive early as the event is organized on a first-come, first-served basis. Event registration will begin at 7:30 a.m.
Dentistry From The Heart is a registered non-profit organization that has grown to include more than 200 annual events with more than 80,000 people receiving dental care at no charge. For more information, visit www.dentistryfromtheheart.org or www.drgravitte.com.
