The Pinnacle Lions Club is planning its third-annual Bill Stone Memorial Golf Tournament and registration is now open.

The tournament will take place April 21 at Pilot Knob Park golf course. Play will begin at 1 p.m. with four-player teams of golfers teeing off in a shotgun start. Cost for play is $160 per team. Proceeds for the day will be used by the Pinnacle Lions Club in its variety of community projects and services.

Bill Stone is fondly remembered throughout the Pinnacle community for his role as one of the leaders in the Pinnacle Lions Club and for his years of service as a school bus driver.

“Bill Stone was a longtime dedicated member,” Pinnacle Lions Club representative Charles Watson said. “He did a lot for our club and for this community.”

Individuals or teams interested in taking part are asked to contact Jeff Robertson at (336) 816-2106, Alan Mitchell at (336) 710-7094 or Watson at (336) 351-2340. Individuals will be assigned for team play.

Cash prizes will be awarded for closest-to-pin on par 3 holes and for the longest drive. All participants will receive a hot dog and drink as well as a gift bag.

Watson voiced appreciation to business sponsors who have signed up for the day and noted that tournament sponsorships are still available at a cost of $50.

“This is a day that everybody enjoys, and it’s a good fundraiser,” Watson noted. “Everything that’s raised is put back into the community to be used locally. We look forward to doing this each year as a way of honoring Bill’s memory.”
