International Bluegrass Music Association award-winners for 2017 Vocal Group of the Year, 2017 Album of the Year, and 2017 Song of the Year, Flatt Lonesome, will play the Historic Earle Theatre on Saturday, April 21, at 7:30 pm.
Since their debut in 2011, Flatt Lonesome has built a solid reputation of stellar picking and heartfelt songs centered around beautiful sibling harmony. Their energetic performance has made Flatt Lonesome a hit with both young and old fans, and their respect towards tradition has earned them the praises of such country stalwarts as Vince Gill, Steve Wariner, and Josh Turner.
Band members Kelsi, Buddy, and Charli Robertson began performing as youngsters alongside their parents in the gospel group Sandy Creek Revival. As the siblings grew and the band’s schedule became more demanding, their parents encouraged them to go out on their own and pursue their dreams.
The three formed Flatt Lonesome in 2011 with their neighbor Dominic Illingworth and longtime friend Michael Stockton.
Flatt Lonesome released their self-titled debut album in 2013 and the opening track, “You’ll Get No More of Me,” scored the group its first number one hit. They were named IBMA’s Emerging Artist award-winners in 2014.
Their second album, “Too,” released in 2014, debuted in the Top 5 of Billboard’s Bluegrass Album charts and produced eight charting singles.
“Runaway Train,” their third album, has been their most award-winning and critically acclaimed, featuring seven original compositions along with selections by such legends as Gram Parsons, Merle Haggard, and Dwight Yoakam. In addition to winning IBMA’s Album of the Year, it also received Album of the Year from the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music Association.
