Police reports

• A vehicle was stolen at Walmart shortly before 5 a.m. Wednesday, according to Mount Airy Police Department reports. The owner of the black 1995 Jeep Cherokee, valued at $5,000 and bearing tag number BCH8438, is Alicia Ramirez, who resides on Blessed Lane.

• Wanda Sue Hamm, 48, of 135 Pinyon Way, Dobson, was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine, a felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia after police responded to a suspicious-vehicle call Tuesday afternoon in the parking lot of the Chase & Charli restaurant on South Main Street, which led to a search. Hamm was held in the Surry County Jail under a $1,000 secured bond and slated for an Oct. 24 appearance in District Court.

• Philgene Montgomery Jr., 45, of 3893 E. Pine St., is facing two counts of larceny at U.S. Cellular on South Andy Griffith Parkway. He was located there Tuesday and found to be the subject of an outstanding warrant for one larceny count and possession of stolen goods, Those charges stemmed from a Saturday incident at the business in which a ZTE tablet computer with an 8-inch screen, valued at $131, was taken.

Montgomery allegedly admitted to that theft, police records state, and retrieved the property to be turned over to U.S. Cellular store along with returning other items and was cited for a second larceny count involving a car charger and a screen protector. He is free on a written promise to appear in Surry District Court on Oct. 4.

• A larceny was reported Tuesday at the residence of Kristy Ann Kemp on Austin Drive, where a known individual is said to have walked inside and took a cell phone from a table. The victim located the phone a short time after making the report.

• Outstanding criminal summonses on charges of assault and battery were filed Monday against Roy Gene Locke Sr., 51, of 109 Apostle Drive, and Gregory Inge Everhart, 44, of 105 Apostle Drive, with another resident of Apostle Drive, Paul Isaac Lewis, as the complainant. Everhart additionally is accused of communicating threats. All the violations had been issued on Aug. 21. Locke and Everhart are scheduled to appear in District Court today.

• An unattended wallet owned by Gary Lee Humphries of Horizon Drive in Cana, Virginia, was stolen Sunday from a counter top in a restroom at McDonald’s on North Andy Griffith Parkway. The brown and black Justin wallet valued at $50 contained a State Employees Credit Union debit card, a Capital One credit card and a driver’s license.

• Charles Michael Kenneth Stull, 29, of 1132 Bowen Road, Pinnacle, is facing two counts of larceny as the result of an incident at Walmart Saturday, when he was encountered by store loss-prevention personnel in reference to a theft on Aug. 12 involving merchandise valued at $50. During an investigation, additional stolen property allegedly was located in Stull’s pockets and he was cited for both thefts along with being banned from Walmart. His court date is Oct. 4.

• Gary Ray Dowell, 67, of 802 Spring St., was cited for second-degree trespassing Saturday night after allegedly causing a disturbance at the Speedway convenience store on Rockford Street, from which he previously was banned by the manager. Dowell is scheduled to be in Surry District Court on Oct. 12.

• A break-in was discovered on Aug. 31 at the Best Buy convenience store on the corner of West Pine and South streets, which involved the theft of a cash register drawer containing an undisclosed sum of money and a window air-conditioning unit. The incident also caused $40 in damage to a metal door frame and vent.

• An attempted larceny by a known suspect occurred on Aug. 29 at Walmart, involving a four-count pack of batteries valued at $17, which was recovered.
