Just as many other school systems in the region marked their first day of classes this week, Millennium Charter Academy opened its doors to students on Wednesday.
This year is a bit different, however.
Opening day marked the start of the 18th year of operation for the charter school — the first year the school will have a graduating class, offering coursework to students kindergarten through twelfth grade for the first time.
The school also had a shiny new high school wing for students, with youth and parents touring the new building Wednesday as classes got under way.
The school boasts more than 100 faculty and staff members, and more than 800 students this year.
