Ashton Alexis Lawson, a junior at North Surry High School, was recently accepted into Governors School at Meredith College in Raleigh this summer where her concentration will be English. Ashton is the daughter of Curt Lawson and Amy Puckett-Lawson.
She has been a HOSA member for three years, two of those years serving as vice president, student council member for three years, class president, secretary and executive board member.
Ashton is also a varsity cheerleader and has been inducted into National Honors Society as well as National Technical Honors Society, participates in Youth Leadership Surry and served her school by being a chief junior marshall at graduation on June 17.
Outside of school she is a junior volunteer at Northern Hospital of Surry and is active in the “Leaders save lives program” through the American Red Cross, where she coordinated blood drives, volunteered, and gave blood to Red Cross .
She is a member of Haymore Baptist Church and has served the past two years as president of the youth leadership team for Haymore. She is active in her youth group and has served on many mission trips, including projects/travel to Portugal, South Carolina and Kentucky, as well as multiple missions in Surry County through the Surry Baptist Association Camp each summer.
