Cross Creek Country Club normally is a place for meetings, dining and maybe a round of golf, but next week it will take on a lifesaving role.
An American Red Cross blood drive is scheduled there Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will be hosted by the Mount Airy Rotary Club.
The Red Cross says it must collect 14,000 donations of blood each day to meet the needs of its patients across the U.S., and information provided for next week’s drive states that every pint given equals three lives saved.
More information or appointment times for Tuesday are available from Lee Lawson at 473-3553.
Blood can be safely donated every 56 days.
Most healthy individuals who are 17 years of age or older (16 with parental consent) and weigh at least 110 pounds are eligible to give blood.
Would-be donors are advised to eat before giving and to come to the drive hydrated.
They also are reminded to bring a photo ID.
Cross Creek Country Club is located at 1129 Greenhill Road.
