Run, health fair to aid clinic

Staff Report

CANA, Va. — An upcoming event is not your usual 5K run, nor will it be a typical health fair, but a combination of those.

Everhart Primary Health Care in Cana will host its annual FUNds Day on Oct. 22, an event now in its fourth year.

It will feature a 5K run, a one-mile fun run/walk, a “stay smart” health fair and a silent auction, beginning with a 9 a.m. packet pickup for the 5K event. Children’s activities also are planned.

The gathering will be held rain or shine at Everhart Primary Health Care, located at 1236 Bear Trail.

Everhart Primary Care opened in July 2012 as a non-profit organization to provide quality and affordable health-care services to the community.

Proceeds from the Oct. 22 run and health fair will be used to buy equipment and to offset operational expenses to keep patient costs as low as possible.

Registration for the 5K run costs $30, with registration to close on Sunday.

Entry forms and sponsor farms are available online at, where more information also can be found.

There is no fee for the one-mile fun run/walk or the health fair.

The latter will include blood pressure and blood sugar checks, chair massages, aroma therapy, yoga warmups and more.

Though those services are to be offered free of charge, donations will be accepted. All contributions are tax-deductible.

In addition to the 5K packet pickups set to begin at 9 a.m. on the day of the event, the fun run/walk will be held at 9:30 a.m. The 5K run is scheduled at 10 a.m.
