The Stan Bobbit Band will be performing Friday evening at the L.H. Jones Family Resource Center in Mount Airy.
The performance will begin at 7 p.m. and end at 10 p.m. Proceeds will go toward helping the Surry County United Fund reach this year’s $450,000 fundraising goal.
The Stan Bobbit Band is a three-piece band made up of local musicians. According to Annalisa Davis, who coordinates events for the senior center at L.H. Jones, this will be the first year the Stan Bobbit Band is performing at the event, which is now in its fourth year.
Davis said the senior center has partnered with Yokefellow Ministries to make the event possible. According to Davis the event is an attempt to “give back.”
“The senior center and Yokefellow Ministries receive United Fund money, so we decided to do this event in order to give back to that organization,” said Davis.
Davis said the festivities won’t be limited to listening to the band and dancing. She said the family friendly event will include refreshments that are available for purchase and a 50/50 raffle.
According to Davis the event has been well attended in the past, despite the fact that it falls on the same date as other community events such as Mayberry Days.
Davis said she hopes to see at least 40 to 50 people at the center for the event Friday evening.
Tickets to the event are $7 each. Davis said those seeking more information can call her at (336) 786-6155 (ext. 222).
