Love conquers all

By Florence Green - Evangelist

We greet you in the name of the lord and savior Jesus Christ. We so appreciate your loyalty in reading these articles, it is an honor and a privilege to write them. I could not write them without the guidance of the sweet Holy Spirit, my advisor in all things Jesus Christ. We all need a little help no matter what we are doing or involved in. Some of us refused to acknowledge that there is a higher power than ourselves.

We who are believers know that it’s true. Our love for Christ should be first and foremost on our agenda. I try not to make any decisions before I consult him. I feel we make so many bad choices because we refuse to pray before acting on anything. (PUSH) Pray and pray until something happens. This week we are not only celebrating Black History Month, but we are celebrating the great love of Jesus Christ. I truly feel we could not be celebrating if it was not for Christ love for his people.

(Deut: 6 vs 5) And thou shalt love the lord they god with all thine heart and with all thine soul and with all thine might. (Matt: 22 vs 37) Again Jesus said, thou shalt love the lord thy god with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. We must remember those special and brave people that sacrificed and lost their lives for a better future, not just for one but for all of gods’ people. We have had civil rights leaders before and now, men and women fighting for a cause to make things better. It’s all about LOVE!!

We must remember Dr. Martin L king Jr, Dr. Ralph Abernathy they marched peacefully for a cause. They did this without violence except for what the adversary created. God’s love is for everyone, it is for every walk of life. He created the flowers, birds and the trees everything you see god created. If anyone has not come into the knowledge of Christ just try him. (Psalm: 97 vs 10) ye that love the lord hate evil; he perserveth the soul of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked. (Psalm: 119 vs 165) Great peace have they which love thy law and nothing shall offend them. (Provebs:8 vs 36) but he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul; all they that hate me love death. Today we really should draw close to god, it is our only hope. Even celebrities are finding out that Jesus is the answer (HOPE).

Most of the African American grew up knowing about this hope and how it answers all our problems. This is one of the reasons why black history is so important, growing up in school we were not taught anything about black history, nor did we learn anything until I was actually an adult. Black history was not discussed, my studies and research was very limited. Praise God for our forerunners. The new movie out now Hidden Figures, I never knew or had a clue about these powerful black women behind the scenes of the Nassau moon project. Is that not an awesome black history moment?

We will talk more on that in my next column but, before I close I want to give honor again to my mother the late Elder Rosie Smith Reynolds a dedicated woman in the lord. As I think back on my father the late George O. Smith and how he broke the colored barrier by being the first African American to gain employment at Pannills Knitting Mill in Stuart Va. Some accepted him and some did not. Although he was a kind, peaceful man my father worked there until he died. He seemed to have loved everyone.

What a blessing to have that love in our lives. (Matthew 5 vs 44) Love your enemies, bless them that hate you and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you. (Matthew 24 vs 12) And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many wax cold. Love really does conquer all. Until my next column may god bless you!
