Anna Rae Martin and Russell Glendon Hodges were united in marriage on December 19, 2015 at 5 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, Mount Airy. Alex Martin officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Tony and Deena Martin of Mount Airy. She is the granddaughter of Donald Martin of Mount Airy and the late Norma Martin and the late Bobby and Margie Norman.
She graduated from North Surry High School in 2009 and North Carolina State University in 2013. She is employed as a math teacher at North Surry High School.
The groom is the son of Russell and Kathy Hodges of Mount Airy. He is the grandson of Aileen Hodges of Mount Airy and the late Raleigh Hodges and Robert and Linda Jones of Gallipolis, OH.
He is a 2007 graduate of North Surry High School, a 2009 graduate of Surry Community College and is currently employed at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco.
The bride was given in marriage by her father, Tony Martin.
She wore a sheath silhouette gown designed by Casablanca made of a heavy non-beaded guipure lace with a silky charmeuse lining. The jewel shaped sheer lace front neckline featured a sweetheart shaped satin lining neckline and straps that flowed into a low scoop back neckline. The zipper was finished with pearl buttons and scallop trim finished the neckline and hemline of the skirt. The bride wore a long, lace trimmed veil and carried flowers by Granite City Florist.
The maid of honor was Molly Martin, sister of the bride.
Bridesmaids were Kaela Rodgers, sister of the groom; Brooke Horton, cousin of the bride; Maegan Phillips, friend of the bride; Morgan Nichols, friend of the bride; Kara Martin, friend of the bride and Katie Basinger of Raleigh, NC, friend of the Bride. Josie Tompkins, friend of the bride, was a junior bridesmaid.
The bridesmaids wore navy blue chiffon floor length dresses with sweet heart necklines. The junior bridesmaid wore a charcoal grey empire waist dress with a top designed in lace and skirt made of layers of tulle. The bridesmaids’ bouquets featured white roses with red holly.
Russell Hodges, father of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Randall Hodges, brother of the groom; Lee Martin, brother of the bride; James Rodgers, brother-in-law of the groom; Jarod Wilson, friend of the groom; Mason Horton, friend of the groom and Josh Steele, friend of the groom. Honorary groomsmen were Colten and Cameron Hodges, nephews of the groom and Clay Tompkins, friend of the bride.
Taylor Golding and Samantha Kunz, friends of the bride, registered the guests.
The wedding director was Judy Mills. The wedding planner was Keith Moser.
Music was provided by pianist, Teresa Martin and singer and guitarist, Mitch Williams. Danny Lineberry was the sound engineer.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Palomino Mountain Ranch Banquet Hall in Lowgap which was catered by 13 Bones. Lily Cakes, Pinnacle, provided the wedding cake. Entertainment was by Martin Eichert, Wilmington, NC.
The rehearsal dinner, hosted by Russell and Kathy Hodges, parents of the groom, was held Friday evening at Calvary Baptist Church.
The couple plans to spend their first Christmas at home in Mount Airy celebrating with family and friends before departing on their wedding trip to Asheville, NC.
