Gerald M. and Bonnie Ball Smith of King recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married on June 5, 1965 at the Jefferson Church of Christ parsonage in Rural Hall.
Mrs. Smith is the daughter of Mrs. Vertie Ball and the late Mr. Lewis Ball. The Balls were originally from Mount Airy before moving to Winston-Salem.
Mr. Smith is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Andrew Smith of King.
Mr. Smith retired as a Production Supervisor from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. Mrs. Smith worked for RJR Industries before becoming a stay at home mom.
On May 16, Steve and Ann Roberts honored the couple with an outdoor family celebration at their home on Belews Creek.
On June 6, the couple’s children and spouses, Chris and Elizabeth Smith of Charlotte, Yvonne and David Newsome of King, with grandson, Cole Newsome, hosted an outdoor party at the couple’s home. Also helping were family members Vertie Ball, Donnie and Janice Ball, Steve and Ann Roberts, and Gray Smith.
Entertainment was provided by the Rainjacket Band and Smith Family Jammin’, catering by Lexington BBQ, and the three tier anniversary cake created by niece, Aleta Lilly of Germanton.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith thank God for all His blessings.
