MOUNT AIRY Ms. Jane Edwards Phillips Brindle, 70, of Mount Airy, our loving mom, grandma, nana, sister and best friend peacefully went to be with her Lord Friday, Dec. 26, 2008. Ms. Brindle was born in Galax, Va., on April 19, 1938, to the late Ernest W. and Myrtle Melton Edwards. She worked at Proctor-Silex for 25 years and retired after working at Pine State Knitwear with 10 years service there. Ms. Brindle was a member of Fancy Gap Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Dianne Phillips of the home and Kim Baker and Steve Payne of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Debbie Phillips of Mount Airy; four grandchildren, Steven Beane of Ararat, Stefany Beane and fianc, Scotty Flippen, of Mount Airy and Brandy Spiken and Mandy Chapman, both of Mount Airy; a great-grandchild, Dakota Janzen of Mount Airy; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Bonnie Harbour of Shallotte and Susie and Bill Gingras of Lenoir; a special uncle, Robert Melton of Pulaski, Va., who was like a brother; and a special aunt, Grace Melton, also of Pulaski. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday Dec. 29, 2008, at Fancy Gap Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dwight Sechrist and Mr. Tim Davis. Burial will follow in New Hope Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. A celebration of her life will be held Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Fancy Gap Baptist Church and other times at her home at 2042 S. Main St., Mount Airy. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made in her memory, c/o Derrick L.
