WALNUT COVE — Jack Burton Hicks, 81, died Sunday afternoon, Feb. 24, 2013, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born May 18, 1931, in Stokes County to Roy and Mabel Sands Hicks. Jack retired from Pike Electric Co. after 40 years of service. He was a member of Meadows Baptist Church. A 2 p.m. funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at Burroughs Chapel with the Rev. Ricky Craig, the Rev. Mike Manuel and the Rev. Randy Wall officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Baptist Church cemetery. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Leona Robertson; and a brother, William Alton Hicks. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Virginia Hayden Hicks of the home; five children, Jackie Sink and husband David, Janice Joyce and husband Jimmy, both of Madison, Roy Hicks, Connie Allen and Cynthia Biggs, all of Walnut Cove; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Roy Glen Hicks and wife Laverne of Washington and Carlton Hicks and wife Willa of Walnut Cove. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at Burroughs Funeral Home and other times at the home. Online condolences may be offered at www.burroughsfuneralhome.com.
