HUNTERSVILLE — Ms. Jermayne Denny Cook, 63, died on Jan. 13, 2013, of cancer at Levine & Dickson Hospice House. She was born in Surry County to parents, J.W. Denny Jr. and Margie Chilton Denny, both deceased. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in sociology from UNC Greensboro and her Master of Social Work from UNC Chapel Hill. She devoted nearly four decades to the service of others. In 2010, she retired from her position as executive director of St. Peter’s Homes at McCreesh Place. Her compassion, grace, and goodness touched the lives of many. Jermayne will be lovingly remembered by her two sons, Franklin (Jenny) Cook of Charlotte and Spencer Cook (Emily Clark) of Durham; one brother, Dwight (Jean) Denny of Florida; three nephews and their families; and many friends. Memorial services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at Whitaker’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Pilot Mountain with the Rev. Jack Lutz officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 1:30 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in her honor to Levine & Dickson Hospice House, 11900 Vanstory Drive, Huntersville, NC 28078.
