Mrs. Novie Welch Thomas, 73, formerly of Mount Airy, beloved wife, mother and friend, passed away on her 51st Wedding Anniversary, November 18, 2012, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday at Rehobeth United Methodist Church in Greensboro. The interment will follow at 2:30 pm Tuesday at Skyline Memorial Gardens in Mount Airy. Mrs. Thomas was born November 2, 1939, in Surry County, NC to the late Cecil Welch and Elma Redman Welch. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by her daughter, Amanda Dare Thomas and her brother, William R. (Bill) Welch. Mrs. Thomas is survived by her husband of 51 years, Joe C. Thomas, Jr. of the home; her children, Angela Thomas Pharr of Greensboro, Craig Thomas also of Greensboro, Jonathan Thomas of Johnson City, TN and her seven grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Monday at Rehobeth United Methodist Church in Greensboro.
