PILOT MOUNTAIN — Mr. James Rommie Simmons, 88, of Pilot Mountain passed away Monday, November 5, 2012 at Central Continuing Care in Mount Airy. He was born August 22, 1924 in Surry County to the late Elzavan Simmons and Sophronia Jessup Simmons. Mr. Simmons worked for Armtex in Pilot Mountain for 27 years and was a retired farmer. In addition to his parents, Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Inman; sisters: Irene Adams, Eunice Cook and Ethelene Wilson; and brother, Hubert Simmons. Surviving are two daughters, Pamela Simmons and Brenda Kay Cook (Steve); brother, Glenn Simmons; granddaughter, Kimberly Holt; two great-grandchildren, Jackson Holt and Kelsey Holt. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with the Rev. Odell Sisk and Pastor Barry Clement officiating. Burial will follow in the Inman Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 7 at the funeral home.
