BLEDSOE
DOBSON — Mrs. Ruth Draughn Bledsoe, 90, widow of the late Rev. Orville Bledsoe, entered the Portals of Heaven on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at Central Continuing Care surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 22, 1922, to the late Sidney Raymond and Maggie Viola Jones Draughn. Mrs. Bledsoe was a homemaker and a member of Copeland Baptist Church. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving sons and daughters-in-law, the Rev. Alton and Adele Bledsoe of Mount Airy and the Rev. Dennis and Patty Bledsoe of Dobson; four beloved grandchildren and spouses, Fonda and Tony Dalton of Mount Airy, Josh and Lisa Bledsoe of Raleigh, Amanda and Grant King of King and Emily and Rex Stroud of Dobson; six great-grandchildren, Keightley Dalton, Abbie Stroud, Jonathan Dalton, Griffin King, Meredith Stroud and Gavin King; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Dorothy Rumley of Mount Airy, Lucille Wood of Dobson and Nannie Lou and Ray Kidd, also of Dobson; and a brother and three sisters-in-law, Raymond and Hollie Draughn of Matthews, Bertha “Shorty” Draughn of Burlington and Veena Draughn of Dobson. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Bledsoe was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph, Kelly and Harvey Draughn. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home by her beloved sons, the Rev. Dennis and the Rev. Alton Bledsoe with burial to follow in the Copeland Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 7 to 9 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Joy Ranch, 813 Joy Ranch Road, Woodlawn, VA 24381; or Foothills Food Panty, 233 Cooper St., Dobson, NC 27017.
