Mr. Howard Frank Gammons, age 86 of Claudville, VA, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Pioneer Hospital. Mr. Gammons was born in Patrick County on June 24, 1926 to James Jesse and Susie Ada Goins Gammons. He proudly served our county in the United States Navy during WWII. Mr. Gammons will be dearly missed by his many friends and family. Surviving is a step son, Ronnie Newman of Mount Airy; a sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and Paul Layman of Stuart; brothers and sisters-in-law, Blaine and Louise Gammons of Sandy Level; Winfield and Elaine Gammons of Stuart; Herbert Gammons of Claudville and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gammons was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Hill Gammons and brothers, David Lee Gammons and James William Gammons. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel of Stuart by Rev. William Roundtree and Rev. Bernard Handy. Burial will follow in the Hills Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors by Patrick County VFW Honor Guard.
