LOWGAP — A Saturday afternoon farm accident claimed the life of a local man, 73-year-old William Leonard Hodges.
John Shelton, director of Surry County Emergency Services, identified Hodges Monday morning after all family members had been notified.
Shelton said Hodges went outside to try to crank his “older model” farm tractor when it “jerked forward and pinned him under the left rear wheel.”
The accident occurred at a residence on New Life Church Road, which is off of Haystack Road, according to Shelton.
