To the local department of social services for making a priority out of pursuing those committing food stamp fraud. Aside from a few extreme and out-of-touch segments of our community, we don’t believe any reasonable person begrudges food stamps to those truly in need. Those who game the system and break the law, however, should be brought to justice and face the stiffest penalties allowed by law.

To officials with the county animal shelter and animal rescue groups, for setting aside past animosity and beginning work on a brighter, more cooperative future that benefits the pets so often dumped in the county and foisted upon the shelter.
