BUTNER
SILOAM — Mr. Thomas “Tommy” Leon Butner, 77, of Siloam, went to his heavenly home Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born Oct. 17, 1935, in Forsyth County to the late Leon and Willie Blossom Stimpson Butner. Mr. Butner served in the U.S. Army and retired from RJ Reynolds. Mr. Butner was an A1 banjo player and played with a lot of wonderful people, including people who played at the Grand Ole Opry. He was currently playing banjo for the Cranford Creek Bluegrass Group. He was a man of few words but spoke through his music. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Fulk Butner of the home; stepson, Robert Joseph Damiano Jr.; grandchildren, Christian Damiano Butner and Makyna Elaina Kay Damiano; and nieces, Bonnie Lowman and Suzie Stewart and her husband Michael. In addition to his parents, Mr. Butner was preceded in death by one son; and sister, Frances Lowman. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Howell-Nelson Funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. Michael Thames and the Rev. Kenny Aman with interment to follow at Grace Baptist Church cemetery in Lewisville with full military rites to be conducted by VFW 11th District Honor Guard Post #9010.
