To the editor:

Last night, the Shepherd’s House was blessed with another successful evening of friendship, frolic and fundraising.

Ours is a small community, and it can sometime seem as if the capabilities of our abled might somehow exceed the needs of our disabled, such is the unrelenting call for contribution and sacrifice.

It is in honor and respect for our community — of this indomitable spirit of compassion that rises time and time again to meet and exceed those needs — which I wish to thank all who sustain the good people and place of The Shepherd’s House — the staff, the volunteers, the board, and the innumerable selfless givers of sustaining goods, services and donations who provide our city with a magnificent and essential grace: a last resort.

The regret of needing a shelter can only be placated by the certainty of having one. Thanks to each and all who afford the austere luxury of The Shepherd’s House to our community. It bears testament to our hearts, our hopes, and to our certain insistence that we will look after one another. It is a beautiful place.
