MOUNT AIRY — Mr. John Cabel “J.C.” Combs, 67, of Mount Airy, passed away at his home on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013. He was born in Carroll County, Va., on Oct. 24, 1945, to the late Fred and Mary Edith Strickland Combs. He worked for Pike Electric for many years and he was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Combs is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Stacy Combs and Sherrie Combs Womack and husband, Sean; two sons and daughters-in-law, Eddy Combs and wife, Tina, and Freddy Combs and wife, Cathy; one brother and sister-in-law, Laverne Combs and wife, Joanne; five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Savonne Woods and husband, Junior, Delta Branch and husband, Steve, Linda Hawks and husband, Barry, Benice Combs and Barbara Combs; grandchildren, Abbi Beck, Gabi Beck, Brandon Combs and Ayla Combs; and several special nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Combs was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Ladd Combs. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Josh Holder, the Rev. Anthony Thomas and the Rev. Tommy Vass officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Ford Christian Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. and at other times at the home of his daughter, Stacy Combs, 369 Brown Road, Mount Airy. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to express its sincere appreciation to his daughter, Stacy, for her love and exceptional care during the last five years; and the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, especially Tina, Elva and Genene.
