Arrests

The Surry County Sheriff’s Office is reporting the following arrests:

• On Jan. 16, Ronald Dean Atkins, 43, of Neal Road in Mount Airy, was arrested and charged with breaking and entering and larceny, both felonies. He was booked into the Surry County Jail under a $2,500 unsecured bond.

• On Jan. 18, Jonathan Cebrin King, 31, of Johnson Road in Mount Airy, was arrested and charged with interference with an election monitor, the destruction of personal property and a felony probation violation. He was booked into the Surry County Jail under a $30,800 secured bond.

• On Jan. 24, John Elsa Fatterly, 19, of Washington Road in Claremich, Mich., was arrested and charged with the breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, felony larceny, conspiracy to commit felony larceny and the possession of stolen goods. He was booked into the Surry County Jail under a $100,000 secured bond.

• On Jan 23, Henry Louis Okoniewski, 24, of West Virginia Street in Mount Airy, was arrested and charged with the failure to register as a sex offender. He was booked into the Surry County Jail under a $15,000 secured bond.

• On Jan. 24, Dustin Ray Collins, 28, of Little Mountain Church Road in Ararat, was arrested and charged with safecracking, the possession of methamphetamine, the possession of drug paraphernalia, breaking and entering, larceny and the possession of stolen goods. He was booked into the Surry County Jail under a $25,000 secured bond.

• On Jan. 28, Phillip Lee Phillips, 40, no known address, was arrested and charged with attempting to obtain property under false pretenses and uttering a forged instrument. He was booked into the Surry County Jail under a $5,000 secured bond.

• On Jan. 29, David Lee Reynolds, 50, of Shoals Road in Pinnacle, was arrested and charged with being a habitual felon. He was booked into the Surry County Jail under a $1,000 secured bond.

Incidents

The following incidents are under investigation by the Surry County Sheriff’s Office:

• On Jan. 20, Kimberly Mereah Merwin, 33, of South Main Street in Mount Airy, reported the recovery of a stolen vehicle valued at $1,100.

• On Jan. 20, William Thomas Marion, 26, of Siloam Road in Dobson, reported the theft of a riding lawnmower valued at $300.

• On Jan. 20, employees of Davis Automotive, West Pine Street in Mount Airy, reported the breaking and entering of their business and the theft of various aluminum items. The items taken were valued at just under $700.

• On Jan. 20, Ricky Joe Call, 51, of Dan Calloway Road in Lowgap, reported the breaking and entering of an outbuilding and the theft of assorted hand tools valued at around $500.

• On Jan. 21, Jessica Renee Sprauge, 33, of Greenhouse Trail in Lowgap, reported that someone broke into her home and stole assorted household items valued at $500.

• On Jan. 21, Leonard Ray Childress, 75, of Siloam Road in Ararat, reported that someone broke into his outbuilding and took a toolbox, chainsaw and gas can. The items taken in the incident were valued at $210.

• On Jan. 25, Mary Sykes Wood, 59, of Highway 268 in Elkin, reported the breaking and entering of her property and the theft of a table saw and kerosene lamps. The items taken were valued at $1,000.

• On Jan. 26, Shannon Lee Mathis, 38, of Cedar Knoll Drive in Mount Airy, reported that someone attempted to break into his home by breaking out a window. Damage in the incident was valued at $50.

• On Jan. 26, Sarah Whittington Shelton, 75, of Oak Street in Mount Airy, reported that someone attempted to remove items from a vacant building on her property. No items were reported missing in the incident.

• On Jan. 26, employees at North Franklin Elementary School reported that someone had taken aluminum cans from their property. The items taken were valued at $6.
