PILOT MOUNTAIN —The Surry Central Golden Eagles prevailed against the East Surry Cardinals in a close wrestling match ending 40-39 at East Surry on Tuesday.
The intense match went into tiebreaker criteria and the outcome was decided by the most points scored.
Golden Eagles Head Coach Stephen Priddy said seniors on the team stepped up and wrestled very well. Seniors on the Golden Eagles team are Mason Snow, Rayond Dance, Calvin Inman, Bryant White and Wes Brown.
Priddy said the team had some forfeits due to weather, missed practices or sickness, so given the circumstances, Priddy said, “I was very pleased with the wrestling match outcome.”
Priddy said his team came ready to wrestle.
“I feel lucky to get a good win against a good team with a good coach,” said Priddy.
