MOUNT AIRY — Mr. Wilbur Edwards Turner, 81, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at Golden Living Center. Mr. Turner was born in Robeson County on Aug. 7, 1931, to Grady and Addie Nance Turner. He served our country in the United States Army and was retired from The Winston-Salem Journal. Mr. Turner was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to so many who will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Surviving are his wife, Marie Edmonds Turner of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Michael McDaniel of Mount Airy; grandsons, Jason McDaniel and Patrick McDaniel, both of Mount Airy; sisters, Mary T. Brown and Juanita T. Johnson, both of Fairmont; a brother and two sisters-in-law, J.C. and Sharon Turner of Roseville, Mich., and Patsy Turner of Cerro Gordo; sisters-in-law, Dorothy White, Ruby Newman and Mary Harvey, all of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Turner was preceded in death by brothers, Gary Turner and Glenn Turner. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
