PINNACLE — Mrs. Ruby Sawyers Sechrest, 92, of Pinnacle, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. She was born on Aug. 11, 1920, in Surry County to the late Cora Frances Atkins. Mrs. Sechrest was a homemaker and a member of Friendly Chapel Church. Mrs. Sechrest is survived by six sons, Randeall, Harold (Jan), Darold, Ronnie (Glynis) Delmer (Gaye) and Barry (Wendy) Sawyers; four daughters, Frances Hicks, Dyann (Vic) Mendenhall, Debbie (Travis) Wright and Bonnie Tilton; one daughter-in-law, Penny Sawyers; 25 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two stepchildren, Dona Sparger and Ricky Sechrest. Mrs. Sechrest was preceded in death by her mother; son, Donnie Sawyers; first husband and father of 11 children, Aubrey Sawyers; second husband, Curtis Sechrest; two sons-in-law; and one daughter-in-law. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Friendly Chapel Church with Bro. Don Collins and Preacher Bill Watson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cox-Needham Funeral Home.
