Mr. Larry Gray France, 60 of 210 Deatherage Rd. Mount Airy, NC passed away Sunday, Decemeber 23, 2012 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Mr. France was born September 12, 1952 in Surry County to the late Raffis and Gertie Sechrist France, he was a retired Truck Driver and a member of Northside Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife Mrs. Patty Harrell France of the home, one daughter and son-in-law Carrie and Eric “Howdy” Ward of Pilot Mountain, one son, L.J. “Sidekick” France of Pilot Mountain, one step daughter and spouse Marcia and Mickey Rogers of Mount Airy, one step son and spouse Melvin and Angela Grubb of Meadows of Dan, VA., grandchildren Karen Ann “Purty” Ward, William Pressley France, Garrett Gray France, Cheyenne “Cheyzee” Rogers, Luke “Buddy” Rogers and Matthew Grubb, sisters and brothers-in-law Callie and Terry Nixon of Dobson, Joyce King of Mount Airy, Lois and Ray Rogers of Mount Airy and Rita and Howard Farmer of Mount Airy, brothers Gernie France of Newport News, VA, Edgar France of Mount Airy and Big Gary France of Mount Airy, brother-in-law Pete Burchette of Mount Airy, sister-in-law Brenda France of Mount Airy and many special nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Mr. France was preceded in death by his first wife Nancy Ann Mears France, one sister Evie Burchette, two brothers Dillard France and Lefty France and a brother-in-law Bill King. Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Northside Baptist Church with services conducted by Rev. Dean Eaton, Rev. Dale Bass and Rev. Larry Stone with burial to follow in the Oak Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 12:00 noon Thursday until time of the service at Northside Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane Suite 200 Mount Airy, NC. 27030. The family would like to give a special thank you to Mountain Valley Hospice, caregiver Tina Leonard and to the doctors and nurses at Piedmont Hematology and Oncology. The family would also like to give a very special thank you to all of Larry’s close friends and family that have been by his side and been such a great support and comfort to him during his sickness.
