PILOT MOUNTAIN — Mrs. Gladys Ray “Dolly” Spainhour Richardson, 93, of Pilot Mountain, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at the home of her daughter. She was born in Stokes County on Oct. 2, 1919, to the late Romey and Devada Chandler Spainhour Richardson. Mrs. Richardson was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving children, Peggy Cox, with whom she made her home, of Pilot Mountain, Becky and Jack Barber of Dobson, Wanda and Tad Vogler of Westfield, Carolyn Parker of Pinnacle and Frances and Brother Junior Hicks of Siloam; a sister, Ester Warden of Blues Creek; a brother, Thurmond Spainhour of Winston-Salem; 27 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-great-grandchildren. In addition to parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Walter Wilburn Edwards and William Penn Richardson; a daughter, Nevada Hiatt; and three sons Calvin Edwards, Carl Edwards and Willie Richardson. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at Friendly Chapel Church by Brother Don Collins and Brother Junior Hicks with burial to follow in Mount Zion Methodist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m., where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie in state one hour prior to the service.
