MOUNT AIRY — Mrs. Margie Gates Love Thomas, 92, of 176 Love’s Grove Church Road, Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at Twelve Oaks Rest Home and Alzheimer’s Unit. She was born July 15, 1920, in Patrick County, Va., to the late John William and Ada Gunnell Gates. She was a homemaker and was a member of Stewart’s Creek Primitive Baptist Church. Surviving are a son, Dennis Love of Mount Airy; a stepdaughter and husband, Betty and Rex Moxley of Galax, Va.; a stepson and wife, Walter C. and Wanda Thomas of Hillsville, Va.; grandsons, Jerry Love and wife, Sandra, of Mount Airy and Joey Love and wife, Lea Love, of Mount Airy; several stepgrandchildren; great-grandchildren, Kalleigh Love, expectant “Baby Love” and Ceanna Love; and several stepgreat-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thomas was preceded in deatb by her first husband, Garnie Love; her second husband, Elder Walter E. Thomas; and three sisters, Zettie Inman, Virginia Kirkman and Cordelia Griffith. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Elder Gary Lowe. Burial will follow in the Indian Grove Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. Friday until time of the service at Moody Funeral Home. The family would like to express a “special thanks” to the staff and residents at Twelve Oaks for the caring love and compassion that they have given Mrs. Thomas over the past years.
