The president of the Surry County Farm Bureau was lauded recently during a state meeting.

During the annual meeting of the North Carolina Farm Bureau Federation, held earlier this month at the Sheraton Four Seasons and Joseph S. Koury Convention Center in Greensboro, David Haynes was recognized for what the organization termed “exemplary work.”

Haynes was honored, along with several other winning county Farm Bureau presidents, with the presentation of a limited-edition Case pocketknife.

“Each county’s agency (employees) worked hard to qualify their county president for this recognition,” said local Farm Bureau worker Nelda Draughn. “Special plaques were also presented to the agents and agencies whose production was superior during the contest period.”

The awards are the results of an annual contest based on sales achievements, according to Draughn.
