MOUNT AIRY — Mr. Namon “Willie” Williams, 88, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at Central Continuing Care in Mount Airy. He was born in Heckleburg, Ala., on Feb. 28, 1924, to the late Daniel and Ada Raburn Williams. Mr. Williams was owner and operator of South Main Texaco for over 30 years, and was a member of Fancy Gap Baptist Church. Namon was a loving husband, father and grandfather, he was loved by everyone who knew him. He loved talking to people, working in his yard, listening to music and was especially fond of his dog, Peaches. He is survived by his wife, Opal Williams of the home; two daughters and son-in-law, Kaye Taylor and fiancé Deran Wyatt and Penny and Howie Young, all of Mount Airy; two sons and daughter-in-law, Ray Taylor of Mount Airy and Ronnie and Tammy Taylor of Denton; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a sister, Alma DuBose of Alabama. In addition to his parents, Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene Dawson Williams; a son, Otis Wayne Taylor; and brothers, Delmer, James, Gene Williams and an infant brother. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ray Hutson officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy and other times at his home at 308 Worth St., Mount Airy.
