Arrests

The following people have been taken into custody by the Surry County Sheriff’s Office:

• On Oct. 27, Sheena Rae Culler, 27, of Surry Badsberry Road in Pilot Mountain, was arrested and charged with breaking and entering a motor vehicle and second degree kidnapping. She was booked into the Surry County Jail and ordered held without bond.

• On Oct. 26, Randy Dean Hawks, 33, of Watershed Road in Lowgap, was arrested and charged with being a fugitive from justice in Virginia. He was booked into the Surry County Jail under a $25,000 bond.

• On Oct. 25, Shane Gray Hawks, 22, of Cranberry Lane in Mount Airy, was arrested and charged with two counts of the larceny of a motor vehicle and two counts of the possession of stolen goods. He was booked into the Surry County Jail under a $10,000 bond.

Incidents

The following incidents are under investigation by the Surry County Sheriff’s Office:

• On Oct. 28, James Thomas Brim Sr., 84, of South Franklin Road in Mount Airy, reported the breaking and entering of his home and the theft of more than $8,500 in cash and coins and an SKS rifle.

• On Oct. 27, Joseph W. Knight, 25, of Candlewycke Lane in Elkin, reported that someone had vandalized his Ford truck and taken a key to his employer’s business.

• On Oct. 27, Earl Thomas Sheppard, 66, of Sunset Drive in Pilot Mountain, reported the theft of an ATV battery and ATV ignition key.

• On Oct. 27, Brownie Shelton Nester, 92, reported that someone had attempted to break into his home and vehicle by breaking out two windows.

• On Oct. 27, Jeremy Joseph Morris, 35, of East Pine Street in Mount Airy, reported the vandalism of his 1999 Dodge Ram and the breaking and entering of an outbuilding on his property. The damage was listed at $2,250.

• On Oct. 26, Bradley Scott Bowman, 39, of Stony Brook Trail in Mount Airy, reported the breaking and entering of a vacant residence. No items were reported taken.

• On Oct. 26, Susan Boyd Akbas, 57, of Mt. Pleasant Church Road in State Road, reported the theft of three handmade leather belts valued at $750.

• On Oct. 26, Ricky Chamberland Atkins, 40, of Copeland School Road in Dobson, reported the theft of a 1997 Kia Sportage valued at $2,500.

• On Oct. 25, Jonathan Gray Kirkman, 31, of Old Lowgap Road in Mount Airy, reported the breaking and entering of his residence and the theft of a computer printer, $500 cash and the deed to his residence.

• On Oct. 25, William Ray Murphy, 72, of North Franklin Road in Mount Airy, reported the breaking and entering of his home and the theft of a .38 revolver, 10 oxycodone tablets and a 42 inch flat screen television. The items stolen were valued at more than $1,050.

On Oct. 25, Nancy Caroline Cheek, 39, of Mulberry Church Road in Elkin, reported the theft of 90 oxycodone tablets and 48 methylphenidate tablets. The items stolen were valued at $20.

On Oct. 25, Andrew Sampson Kiser, 49, of Knob Hill Drive in Pilot Mountain, reported that someone attempted to break into his 2012 Nissan Altima. Damage in the incident was listed at $1,000.

On Oct. 25, Holly Sutphin Haynes, 33, of Round Peak Church Road in Lowgap, reported the breaking and entering of her home and the theft of various jewelry valued at more than $500.
