Mrs. Betty Jean Ward Mitchell, age 79, of Dobson, NC, the wife of Thomas Wayne Mitchell passed away at her home on Wednesday evening October 31, 2012. She was born in Stokes County, NC, on June 9, 1933 to the late Albert Lee Ward and the late Elizabeth Flynn Ward. She lived her life in Stokes County and was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church but has not attended since moving to Surry County after remarrying. She was retired from the Surry County Health Department. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother-in-law Evelyn Ward, Louise Ward Sands and her husband Hugh Sands; one brother Stanley Ward. Surviving are her husband Wayne Mitchell of the home; two daughters Cindy Wall Wiggins and her husband Brad of Pinnacle, Ramona Wall Ferris and her husband Bruce of Madison,; one son Terry Wall and his wife Debbie of Walnut Cove; two grandsons Trey Wiggins, and Brandon Ferris; two great grandchildren Hannah Ferris and Alex Ferris; step daughter Beverly Mitchell Angle and her husband Rusty of Ararat, Va; step grandson Bradley Angle; mother-in-law Stacie Holyfield Harlan; brother-in-law James Holyfield both of Siloam. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. November 2, 2012 in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson, with burial in Skyline Memory Gardens in Mount Airy. Chaplin Justin Nelson will conduct the services. The family will Receive Friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home on Friday one hour prior the Services and at her home following the Funeral Services.
