Benefits and Fundraisers

• Touching All Generations is hosting a variety gospel singing Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Earle Theatre in downtown Mount Airy featuring The Haynes Family, Stan Bobbitt Band and Travis Frye & Blue Mountain. Tickets will be sold at the door for an $8 donation.

• Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Jenkinstown Road, will have a yard and bake sale today and Saturday at 8 a.m. Ham biscuits will be sold for breakfast both days, and hot dogs for lunch. All proceeds benefit the church cemetery fund.

• The Surry Quarter Quaker Men will host a chicken stew and auction at Pine Hill Friends Meeting fellowship hall, at N.C. 268 and Eldora Road, Ararat, Saturday. Chicken stew starts at 4 p.m., and the auction will be at 6 p.m. All proceeds benefit the Surry County Schools Backpack Program, which sends weekend meals home with children who might otherwise not get food. • Westfield Friends Church, 3161 Old Westfield Road, Westfield, will have its bazaar Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon. Featured will be breakfast, crafts, produce, baked goods, canned goods, clothing, yard sale, cookbooks, attic treasures and a quilt raffle. Proceeds will benefit special projects and the general fund.

• Highland Park Baptist Church will have its annual bazaar and bake sale Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon. Breakfast will be available including sausage biscuits, gravy, coffee, juice and jelly. • Franklin Heights United Methodist Church, 416 S. Franklin Road, Mount Airy, will have a pancake supper Oct. 26 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Cost is $5 for adults; $3 for children 5 to 12; and free for children younger than 5. Take-outs are available. Proceeds benefit the church budget.

• White Plains Friends Awana Club will hold a bingo at the White Plains Ruritan Building Oct. 27 with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and games at 6:30 p.m. Prizes include 31 and Sabika. Food will be sold as well. All proceeds benefit the White Plains Friends Awana Youth and will go toward supplies, activities and mission projects.

• The Methodist Men of Salem United Methodist Church, 2591 Wards Gap Road, Mount Airy, will have a pancake breakfast Oct. 27 for a cost of donations only. Take-outs are available.

• Epworth United Methodist Church, U.S. 52, Cana, Va., will have its annual spaghetti dinner Oct. 27 from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at a cost of $6 per adult. Take-outs will be available. Proceeds benefit church projects and missions.

• The youth group of Freedom Baptist Church, 2485 Chances Creek Road, Fancy Gap, Va., will sponsor a potato bar and gospel singing featuring The Preacher’s Choir Nov. 2 at the church. The potato bar will consist of baked potato with the fixings, salad, dessert and drink from 4 to 6 p.m. at a cost of $5 for adults and $3 for children 4 to 12; children younger than 4 eat free. The gospel singing will start at 7 p.m. Proceeds benefit the church youth group’s upcoming projects.

• St. Paul Church of the Brethren, Cana, Va., across from Cana Volunteer Fire Department, will have a ham supper Nov. 3 from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Cost is $7.50 for adults and $4 for children younger than 12. Menu includes ham, green beans, apples, potato salad, rolls, dessert and drinks. Carry-outs are available. Proceeds benefit the ministries of the church.

• Salem Fork Baptist Church, Twin Oaks Road, Elkin, will have a harvest sale Nov. 3 at 8 a.m. Items sold include baked goods, canned goods and handmade goods, as well as breakfast from 7 to 8:30 a.m. and a soup lunch from noon to 1:30 p.m. All proceeds benefit missions.
