MOUNT AIRY — Mrs. Linda Sue Barker, 64, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010, at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Barker was born in Bland County, Va., May 27, 1946, to Carl Hayton and Zena Bridges Hayton. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed by all her family and many friends. Mrs. Barker was a member of Ivy Green Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Douglas Barker of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Crystal and Richard Hawks of Lowgap and Chris and Marc Tickle of Mount Airy; two grandchildren, Kaitlyn Tickle, Hayley Tickle, and one on the way, John-Douglas Brady Hawks; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Pam Edmonds of Lexington and Tim and Christy Edmonds of Yadkinville; her mother-in-law, Estelle Barker of the home; and nephews, Johnathon Edmonds, Zachary Edmonds and Alexander Edmonds. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barker was preceded in death by her stepfather, Kermit Edmonds; stepbrothers, Larry Edmonds and Billy Edmonds; and her father-in-law, Walter Barker. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Lester Bryant and the Rev. Donnie Hooker. Burial will follow in Round Peak Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
