HILLSVILLE, Va. — A Surry County man has been arrested in connection with the theft of a camper in Carroll County.
The arrest of Melvin Shane Clodfelter, 25, of Sycamore Drive in the Flat Rock community, was announced Wednesday by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office. Clodfelter is charged with grand larceny and breaking and entering, according to Sheriff Warren Manning.
As of Wednesday, Clodfelter was being held in the Surry County Jail awaiting extradition to Virginia.
The alleged offenses occurred in the Sylvatus community of Carroll County in mid-July, Investigator Fred Bobbitt said Thursday. The victim is a resident of Pennsylvania, with the camper taken from the site of a summer home that individual owns in Carroll.
Information was gathered by members of the Sheriff’s Office which resulted in locating property of the victim and the arrest of the Flat Rock man. Warrants on the charges were obtained by Bobbitt and Investigator Shannon Goad.
