CANA, Va. — Mr. Franklin Roger Leftwich, 81, of Cana, died peacefully at his home on Friday, Aug. 20, 2010. He was born June 24, 1929, in Carroll County to the late Henry W. and Ethel Combs Leftwich. Mr. Leftwich was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired machinist. He was a member of Grace Covenant Church. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Gates Leftwich of the home; a daughter, Glenda Fleming of Cana; sons and daughters-in-law, Rudy W. Leftwich and wife Joy of Cana and Roger Leftwich and wife Janene of Hooper, Utah; son-in-law, Gerald Lintecum of Cana; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Bernice Hawks of Cana; and sister-in-law, Pansy Leftwich of Pilot Mountain, N.C. In addition to his parents, Mr. Leftwich was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Lintecum; and brothers, Rawdon and Haskell Leftwich. A private service will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends at the home, 284 Pauls Creek Road, Cana. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Covenant Church Building Fund, 257 Hylton St., Mount Airy, NC 27030.
