n A Carroll County, Va., man has been jailed under a large bond on a vehicle-theft charge filed in Mount Airy, according to city police department reports. Eric Shane Bouldin, 35, of 452 Old Pipers Gap Road in Lambsburg, is accused of attempting to steal a Dodge Caravan, based on police records that did not list the vehicle’s owner.

Bouldin was charged with three violations in all after he was taken into custody Sunday on a city walking trail: larceny of a motor vehicle, a felony; driving while impaired; and failure to report an accident. He also was found to be wanted by state officials on a probation matter and was confined in the Surry County Jail under a $55,000 secured bond. Bouldin is facing a Sept. 2 court appearance.

n Anthony Lee Foley, 32, of 109 Bitting Ave., has been accused of two felony offenses after allegedly altering the original amount on a check and cashing it at a BB&T branch here. Foley, who was charged Friday — a day after the crime was reported — is facing violations of forgery of an instrument and uttering a forged instrument. The victim in the case is Terry Reginald Miller of Franklin Street. Foley is free on a $10,000 unsecured bond and is scheduled to appear in Surry District Court on Aug. 24.

n Property valued at about $300 was reported stolen Friday from a vehicle parked at Payless Shoe Source on Edgewood Drive. Kelsey Timmons of Midnight Trail told police that various items owned by her and a second victim, Portia Childress of Pipers Gap Road, were stolen from the vehicle after she left it to go to the nearby Wal-Mart store. Included were book and duffle bags, school supplies, clothing, glasses and contact lenses. The case is listed as inactive, with no leads to pursue at this time.

n Drugs were reported stolen last Thursday after a rock was used to break the front door glass at a city business. The incident occurred at Gates Pharmacy on North South Street, where quantities of medications including hydrocodone were stolen. A value could not be determined for the loss, according to police records. The case remains open for investigation.

n Rogelio Solis Perez, 32, of 316 Lambsburg Road, Lambsburg, Va., was jailed under a $100,000 secured bond on July 18 after being arrested as a fugitive from justice at the Cumbia Mix nightclub on West Pine Street, where he is employed. Perez is wanted on an unspecified matter in Carroll County.

n Donna Marie Vasquez-Rios, 50, of 101 London Lane, was cited for larceny on July 15 after allegedly concealing baby formula valued at $20 at Lowes Foods and attempting to leave the store without paying for the merchandise. She is to be in Surry District Court on Aug. 25.

n Police are continuing to investigate an incident involving financial transaction card fraud which was reported on July 13. Someone used a credit-card number of John Carl Arnett Sr. of Jackson Road in Westfield to obtain $500 from his checking account. The Wachovia Bank branch on North Main Street is listed as the victim in the case.

n Ann Reynolds Riggs, a West Church Street resident, reported that $800 in cash and other items were stolen from her vehicle on July 13 while it was at Central United Methodist Church on North Main Street. Included were a Samsung cell phone valued at $200, a necklace/earring set ($100), a driver’s license, credit cards and various checks made out to “WOGO,” which are valued at $1,000. Since the theft, police have issued a warning to businesses alerting them to the possibility that someone might attempt to cash the checks. The case remains open for investigation.
